Smyrna to Discuss Possible Market Analysis

Smyrna City Council members are set discuss a potential market analysis by the Georgia Tech Research Corp.

The market analysis, which would include a study about land use development and urban design of the new Suntrust Park District and Spring Road Corridor would cost the city $70,000.

The Smyrna City Council is set to discuss the project at 7 p.m. Monday in the Council Chambers, Smyrna City Hall, 2800 King St.

The guide will be used to assist city officials in deciding development around the new Braves baseball stadium, according to an article by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

This study will look at existing plans and research conducted for the city and examine growth about real estate market demand, land use, zoning and economic impacts to the city as a result of the new stadium,” the AJC article reads. “The research will recommend a set of economic development tools and policies to help the city to adjust its zoning code and be proactive with handling future development.”

The Georgia Tech School of City and Regional Planning will use 10 to 15 master degree students to create design scenarios based on feedback from Smyrna residents.

The Center for Economic Development Research within the Enterprise Innovation Institute at Georgia Tech and Noell Consulting Group would also assist with the project.

A final report will presented in February.
